Life is an interesting, complicated, ever changing thing. Over the years, I’ve come across many tid-bits and advice about making the most of life,  but there’s one in particular that sticks with me. You know the old saying, two steps forward, one step back – it’s not usually a positive thing because it means slow progress. But two steps forward, one step back is still a step gained, and better one step closer to your goal than none at all. Every success story begins with a failure that someone dared to overcome, because they weren’t afraid to keep moving forward, even if finally achieving success meant a long and hard journey with more failure along the way. So I woke up one day and decided I wasn’t going to let my fear of failure stop me from living – and not just living, but thriving. Be fearless. Try new things. Push myself to my limits, then push a little further. Stop caring what people think and be myself. And actually take care of my body and my health, so I could be the best rugby player I could be, so I could be a better EMT, so I could look and feel good, so I could have more energy to do the things I want to do, so I’ll still be healthy and active when I’m old and my loved ones won’t have to spend their time and money trying to take care of a sick woman.

This is where this blog was born from, my long and hard journey to being in the best shape of my life, at every stage of my life. It’s about my new-found love for the CrossFit way of fitness, about hitting PR’s (personal records) and breaking old habits, it’s about my attempts to eat “Paleo” and just eating healthier in general, it’s about my rugby adventures, and of course, it’s about life, and all it’s simple joys. And a lot of the time, I do feel like I’m taking two steps forward and one step back – but as long as I’m still going forwards, that’s all that matters.
